In 2015, CityWide began community organizing work in the Westwood neighborhood in support of the community’s effort to create a neighborhood school center at Westwood School. Through resident engagement and meeting with area stakeholders we are learning more about the community’s opportunities and challenges. We are also analyzing public data sources including Dayton Public Schools enrollment data to better understand Westwood School. Working in partnership with the University of Dayton, the Wesley Center and local funders, we hope to establish the sixth neighborhood school center at Westwood PK-8 School.
CityWide staff is also participating in a City of Dayton led effort to operationalize the Framework for Investment in Greater West Dayton, which was adopted by the Dayton City Commission in February 2015. Early work is focused on mapping investments in the 18 neighborhood which comprise the study area to capture planned and future development in the community.
